The Dixon: Historic Theatre is pleased to announce that our architectural and engineering firms will begin work on The Dixon: Historic Theatre revitalization project funded by the EDA Travel, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation Grant with support from the City of Dixon and Lee County.
Due to the revitalization project schedule, which will be starting this month, it will be necessary to postpone or cancel some of our upcoming shows. The holiday performance of PROPHECY- A TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA TRIBUTE will run as scheduled. Working with our theatre partners, we have moved the community theatre production of Cinderella to Dixon Stage Left. Tickets already sold will be transferred. More information can be found here.
We intend to schedule performances around the revitalization project as we can. Any tickets sold for shows that need to be cancelled due to construction will be refunded. Any shows that need to be moved for renovations, we hope to bring back for you to enjoy in the coming seasons.
If you are a Season Ticket holder at The Dixon, please at your convenience to discuss postponed shows this season at 815-508-6324. The box office hours are 10:00-3:00 Tuesday and Thursday and 11:00-5:00 Wednesday and Friday. The Dixon Theatre will be closed for Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday.

It is with regret that The Dixon Historic Theatre has had to withdraw the events planned for September 3rd and 4th. The Dixon Theatre is working with the artists to establish a future date to welcome Broadway star Franc D’Ambrosio back to Dixon.
Recently issued state mandates do not currently allow any masking exception for artists on stage, which means they cannot perform the event as planned. We are working diligently with the Illinois Department of Health to provide alternate COVID-19 safety protocols for our performers, but these cannot be in place in time for the September 4 weekend.
The Dixon Theatre Board of Directors do not want to risk anyone’s health and wellness due to the COVID‐19 virus and has decided to halt this production in order to work with the state to find a way to move forward with the safety of our patrons, staff and entertainers in mind.
The artists and staff were looking forward to sharing this Broadway experience with you, but public safety must come first at this time of renewed COVID-19 concern.
The box office will be contacting all patrons in the coming days to arrange for ticket refunds. For further questions or concerns regarding the postponement please contact our box office at 815-508-6324.
The Dixon Theatre Board thanks the community for its understanding and continued support through these difficult times.
